Boil-off Gas Re-Liquefaction
Why re-liquefy Boil-off gas ?
Marine application : New generations of natural gas tankers use Diesel instead of boil-off gas as fuel for propulsion, while the boil-off gas is re-liquefied and returned to the tank.typo3/#_msocom_1
Which equipment for this application ?
Brazed heat exchangers are connected to the boil-off gas stream, which is then liquefied before being returned to the storage tanks.
Why Fives ?
Fives is a pioneer in marine LNG Reliquefaction. With more than 30 cold boxes and 30 pumps delivered since 2006, all now in operation on board of Natural Gas tankers, Fives was the first manufacturer of brazed aluminium heat exchangers and cryogenic pumps to diversify in the Natural Gas Re-liquefaction sector :
- 31 cold boxes delivered since 2007 to Hamworthy,
- Heat loss induces a vaporisation of 0.2-0.3%/day of the cargo (example with reliquefaction for a transport from Japan to Qatar around 15 days,5 % of the cargo is saved),
- Avoid gaseous discharge of BOG,
- Cost optimization,
- Design flexibility.
